Doctors

Karen P. Gould, MD

Dr. Karen P. Gould graduated from Tufts University in Massachusetts and attended medical school at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She completed her internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus and her dermatology residency at the University of Louisville in 2002 where she served as chief resident. She is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She joined Dermatology Specialists, PA, in 2003.

Dr. Gould is happily married to Joshua, whom she met in college. She enjoys spending her free time with her children, Sophie, Alex, and Eliott, and her rescue dog, Roxy. Dr. Gould enjoys a myriad of hobbies including reading and running.

Christina L. Haverstock, MD

Dr. Christina L. Haverstock has been a part of the practice since 2010. She graduated Cum Laude from Hamilton College in Upstate NY and went on to earn her Master of Science degree from the University at Buffalo. She attended the University at Buffalo School of Medicine where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society as a junior. She completed her internship in internal medicine at the hospitals of the University at Buffalo before coming to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for her dermatology residency.

Outside of work, Dr. Haverstock enjoys spending time with her husband Andrew and their two sets of twins: Joshua and Regan, Finn and Zander.

Cassandra (Johnson) Kavuri, MD

Dr. Kavuri graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California in 2018. In medical school, she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and graduated summa cum laude. She completed dermatology residency at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, IL, where she was selected as chief resident in her final year.  

After residency, she married her best friend, Roy, in her family’s homestead barn in Iowa. Roy’s job in psychiatry brought them across the country to Greensboro, and Dr. Kavuri was beyond excited to join the supportive, patient-centered team at Dermatology Specialists, PA.  

In her free time, Dr. Kavuri enjoys running, knitting and crocheting, and playing piano. She adores her furry children, including her miniature Aussie, Teddy, and two fluffy cats, Oliver and Sebastian. She and Roy are expecting another addition to the family, a baby boy, in November 2023.  

Sheena Hill, MD

Dr. Sheena T. Hill is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Case Western Reserve University, where she was part of the prestigious Pre-Professional Scholars Program in Medicine (BA/MD program) and graduated magna cum laude. She then attended Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, where she earned her medical degree and her Master’s in Public Health. She received the Dermatology Faculty Prize, which is awarded to a graduating medical student who demonstrates outstanding performance in Dermatology.

She completed her medical internship at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where she received the William A. Bernbaum Award for Best Intern of the Year. She completed her dermatology residency at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University. During her last year of residency, she was appointed Administrative Chief Resident and won the Cutaneous Oncology Research Award. Following residency, she completed a prestigious fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University under Dr. Jeremy Bordeaux, Dr. Bryan Carroll, and Dr. Christina Wong. During her fellowship, she received extensive training on complex reconstruction, high-risk skin cancers, and was a member of the weekly multidisciplinary tumor board.

Dr. Hill has published multiple papers and book chapters on surgical reconstruction, dermatologic surgery, and cutaneous oncology. One of the most rewarding aspects of her career is offering advanced surgical reconstruction after skin cancer surgery and helping patients stay healthy.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, baking, and watching baseball. She looks forward to working with her patients and warmly welcomes them to Dermatology Specialists.

Physician Assistants

Brittany Axner, PA-C

Brittany Axner joined Dermatology Specialists in 2019.  Prior to joining our team, she worked for several years as a General Surgery, PA-C in High Point.  She received her Bachelor of Science at Drexel University in Philadelphia before going on to earn her MS in Physician Assistant Studies at Bethel University in 2014.

Outside of work, Brittany enjoys spending time with her husband, Mike, her son, Max, and their two rescue dogs, Gus and Tara.  Brittany and Mike are expecting a baby girl in December!

Erin Gray, PA-C

Erin Gray joined Dermatology Specialists in 2022.  Before joining our team, Erin was a PA in urgent care, family care and rheumatology in Greensboro for 17 years.  Erin received her Bachelor of Science from St Norbert College in DePere, CA and went on to earn her Master of Health Science from Duke University in 2005.
